Pelvicachromis signatus Spawned

Postby dfea » Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:05 pm

:yahoo: The Pelvicachromis signatus have spawned :yahoo:

Female walled herself in a flower pot during the day today while the male stood guard. I gently lifted the pot to check and there are eggs...YES!

Now hopefully I did not disturb it too much.

Tim, You got it :good: and thanks yet again... Funny thing is Dad isn't the male she first started pairing with, it turned out to be the large male, he moved in about a week ago.

So she re-walled herself in so I'm gonna guess I didn't goof things up.

Well unfortunately it appears the eggs weren't viable so no fry this time (knew that was too easy). I'm guessing that the water was too hard since I just got a conductivity meter and discovered its much harder the expected (so much for GH test kit). But hey, the pair is still holding the territory together and having spawned once will likely spawn again. So now to soften up that water :)

Sorry to hear you didn't get any fry...... :dammit:

Actually the higher reading on the conductivity meter is not indicative that your water is harder than you thought. This is because these meters measure all dissolved solids, and not just the ones related to hardness.

YES!! :yahoo: Just spotted wigglers! :yahoo:

Spawn number two was successful! They spawned on 4/15 and female has remained in the pot since.
